Roadmap

Our sustainability strategy is divided into various fields of action with milestones on our 5-year action plan.

Design for Recycling

For new products, we select the optimum combination of raw material and design with the lowest possible weight for the best recyclability.

Innovative products

Thanks to ideas from customers and ourselves, we develop many nominated and often award-winning packaging solutions every year.

New materials

We regularly use new, more sustainable materials such as tall oil, bio-renewable plastics, recycled aluminium, paper, cardboard, fibre casting, etc.

Foodwaste

Our packaging solutions prevent food waste and thus significantly reduce CO2 pollution.

Clever plastic

This material is light, flexible, mouldable, transparent, inexpensive and also renewable, compostable and recyclable.

Recycled content

PLANTEC has been using almost 100% self-produced rPS for a long time. At FORMING, the proportion of purchased rPET is already 35%.

Fridge story

PLANTEC uses large quantities of recycled plastic from the professional, very environmentally friendly dismantling of refrigerators.

Tray back

We organise the return of used trays for recycling. Depending on the type of material and the distance to us or our film manufacturers.

Our customised product calculator allows you to calculate the CO2 footprint and environmental impact points (EIP).

Comparison of 3 different packaging variants for clear statements on environmental and recyclability as well as product protection.

Consultant

We have been working closely with Carbotech AG for several years, including on our sustainability strategy and customer issues.

Electricity savings

In addition to energy target agreements, we invest in the latest machines, modern compressed air treatment, waste heat recovery, etc.

100% green electricity

Despite considerable additional costs, as a major electricity purchaser we have been buying all our electricity as green electricity for several years.

Solar power plant

In 2023, we built a large solar installation for our own consumption with 2.1 GWh (600 4-person households) on a total roof area of 18,000 m2.

Employees

We increased minimum wages, holidays and many benefits for our staff. This has enabled us to significantly increase satisfaction.

Formation

Our range of apprenticeships is constantly being expanded. We intensively promote further training and internal career opportunities for everyone.

Social activities

In addition to team events, celebrations and gifts for employees, we also sponsor and make donations to those in need.

Purchasing

Our suppliers and service providers are developing sustainably in terms of energy, employees and raw materials used.

Optimised logistics

Our internal logistics are highly automated. We work with state-of-the-art transport companies for the distribution of goods.

Call-off warehouse

We have large storage facilities for customer goods in order to optimise and sustain production and delivery batches.

CO2 reduction

BACHMANN GROUP is a member of SBTi and publishes CO2 reduction targets for Scope 1 and 2 by at least -42% by 2030.

Ecovadis Silver

This online sustainability rating evaluates us every year in the areas of environment, labour/people, ethics and procurement.

SDG targets (Paris)

We are an active member of Swiss Triple Impact (STI) and are working to improve our main SDGs/sustainability goals.

Commitments/committees

We have been working actively with various Swiss Triple Impact organisations for many years (Alliance for Recycling, Prisma, Drehscheibe Swiss Recycle).

Recypac

We are a founding member of the new Swiss industry solution for plastic packaging Recypac (collection/sorting/recycling).

Co-products

We return all process-related die-cut skeletons to our film producers as regrind for reprocessing in the cycle.

Management systems

Various certificates attest to the control of risks to health, industrial accidents, hygiene and environmental protection.

Laws and standards

We actively support our customers in the challenging movement of EU legislation with levies and punitive tariffs on plastic packaging.
